![]() It’s essentially a D&D campaign with funny companions who are mostly assholes to each other. If you enjoyed those games, then let’s be honest, you’ll like Pillars of Eternity. Originally released in 2015, Pillars of Eternity is a CRPG that follows the likes of other popular games in the genre like Baldur’s Gate or Divinity: Original Sin. By putting these story-driven RPGs, gamers can take the exposition with them! If it sounds like a shill for the Nintendo Switch and playing RPGs on their portable system, please Nintendo, send me some money. Waiting at the pharmacy! At the back of math class! During a boring weekly office meeting! While driving!* No one has time to sit on their couch or at their PC to sink 100 hours into Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It looks as though developers are starting to understand that the real strength of the Switch is not the ability to play co-op and adorable family-friendly games like Mario or Zelda, but to instead have the ability to play massively long RPG’s anywhere we choose. Also character building (multiclass and subclasses) are worth mentioning because the make character creation more vivid.Ī lot of techincal issues - mostly fps drops and long loading screens.Obsidian Entertainment’s immensely popular CRPG, Pillars of Eternity is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch. One thing that striked me the most is the amout of unique loot we can gain during our journeys. The ship managing and economy within the game is slightly better than in 1st POE, same can be said with fight system. whole graphics design is on very high level. Whole game in my opinion has pretty graphics, sound etc. Game proposes really good moral dillemas. Story itself also is very properly built - you can complete this game many times and don't get bored. Great companions and dialogues - I think both returning and new characters and relationships both with them and each other are properly written. Kick starter NPCs are immersion breaking and don't add value to the world. Multiple persistent magic effects will nuke your FPS. (1) Explore island, (2) clear dungeon / bounty. Naval combat is text based but you are better of just boarding every time which is just you slaughtering a boat of weak mobs. Piracy content appears to be a theme but is bland and tedious. You are in a world facing impending doom yet you spend most your time doing side quests and sailing around. Story is slow to start and it doesn't ramp up or feel engaging as the game progresses. Wizard class / magic users are fun and have interesting abilities. ![]() The banter and interactions adds flavor during your travels. It has most of the elements that should make for an interesting cRPG but it lacks substance and has failed to hook me even after 52 hours.
